I Couldn’t Look at Him/Her in the Eye

Written by: AyumiNazu

She couldn’t do it. Ever since that incident, she couldn’t speak to him normally or look at him in the eyes. Her face would flush bright red and her tongue would get tied. All he had to do was walk past her and she would feel her heart thumping hard enough to break through her chest.

The day went on without a single word said to each other. Somehow it felt to them as a long moment of awkward silence. During class, they would often glance each other’s way. They would hope that the other would turn around to see them, but at the same time, they would pray that the other wouldn’t realize that they were looking at them.

Ryoma wasn’t sure what he should do. He slightly regretted stealing that kiss from Ayumi the day before. It was the first time the two virgin lips met, and he felt sorry for taking some of her innocence away. However, when he would see Ayumi, his eyes would automatically focus on her lips. He was barely able to control himself from stealing another one. So to resist the temptation, he tried avoiding her a bit.

The confession they both made to each other yesterday was shocking to the two of them. In order to confirm if the words she heard were true, Ayumi decided to look for her beloved after school. When she went up to the roof and was about to turn the door knob, she hesitated and kind of wished he wasn’t even there.

A click was heard when she opened the door, and there was a sigh of relief when she realized that there was no one there.

“Ayumi?” he called out her first name, with a surprised tone.

Out of all places, he didn’t expect to meet up with her at the roof where he was hoping to find some place to calm his heart alone. She almost jumped when she turned around to look at him face to face. Her heart had leaped out of her body and she stood still frozen.

When Ryoma took a step forward, she automatically took a step back from the nervousness she felt from being around him. She had never felt anything like that before. The feelings she felt at that moment were totally unknown to her and she felt a little scared.

He sensed some sort of impatient and eager to get even a little closer to her. As soon as his eyes were set on her face, he couldn’t take them off. Uncontrollable desires ran through his body as he suddenly grabbed both of her hands and pinned her against a wall. The sound of their heart beats melded together in a fast melody.

     “Ry—”

That’s all that left her mouth before Ryoma sealed it with is own. He couldn’t control it. He wanted more of her ever since he tried the taste of her lips.

The kiss alone was enough of a confirmation for Ayumi. Nevertheless she felt utmost embarrassment when he kissed her. Her legs felt like jello, as though she could collapse at any moment from the nervousness she felt.

After that long moment of bondage, Ryoma broke her free from his tease. His girlfriend kept her head down, avoiding his eyes to feel less pressure from the weight of love. Some part of him wanted to deny that it felt good and that he wanted more, but sometimes you just can’t control what the brain thinks on its own.

What held Ayumi up and standing was none other than Ryoma’s hands who held onto hers and pressed it above her head and onto the wall. He waited for her to say something, anything to break the uncomfortable silence. All you could hear was the heavy breathing sounds they were making to make up the lack of air when they kissed.

“To steal kisses in broad daylight…” started Ayumi, her voice shaking a bit.

Ryoma corrected her sentence before she even finished it, “I’m not stealing anything. They belonged to me since yesterday.”

He smirked and lifted her chin up so that she would face him. Ryoma laughed in his head at the reddened cheeks upon his girlfriend’s innocently embarrassed face.

     “You p—!”

And then he stole another one, leaving Ayumi lost for words.
